"Being recognised as a Career Planning Professional"
By January 2012 all Career Planning Professionals in Australia must be Professionally Accredited as per the National Standards and Accreditation of Career Practitioners Project, commissioned through the Career Industry Council of Australia (CICA).
The purpose of this formal accreditation is to ensure that the professional standards of Career Practitioners are current, relevant and reflect international best practice.
Accreditation Program
This program has been designed to enable Practitioners to gain Professional accreditation. Participants will:
- Engage in an individually designed Professional Development Program
- Develop competencies across 6 Key Competency Areas.
- Develop IP and marketing collateral
- Receive mentoring from one of Australia’s Internationally Accredited Practitioners and other experienced practitioners
- Obtain accreditation as a Full Professional Members of ACPI and be recognised by CICA
- On completion of this professional development program, to be granted the opportunity to receive RPL for a Post Graduate Certificate in Career Development.
Practice Development Program
This is a unique opportunity to enhance professional skills and grow your practice. Through a combination of mentoring, research and focussed development, participants engage in a program of systematic development to enhance their position in the marketplace, developing a world class career planning practice.
Participants will:
- Increase their intellectual property
- Improve marketing collateral of practice
- Improve networking
- Receive mentoring from one of Australia’s internationally accredited Career Practitioners
- Through RPL can be converted into a formal qualification.

The Career Practitioner Program is aimed at those who have had previous experience in career development, guidance or counselling, with a view to seek and participate in continuing professional development; and for those wishing to launch themselves into this industry, gaining appropriate and relevant skills to successfully work as a Career Practitioner.
